Sidelight fibre optic

Description

SIDELIGHT OPTIC FIBRE

Description

Sidelight optic fibres are certainly an interesting form of lighting as they provide subtle illumination which can be observed with the naked eye.

In our offer we have optic fibres with diameters from 3mm to 17mm.

In order to achieve the desired light effect, one of the optic fibre ends has to be placed in the light source, which controls the colour and illumination intensity.

Each of the optic fibre consists of the core and coat. The parameters of the core and coat are chosen in such a way that the light spreads in the core and partially in the coat. Generally, the coat should ‘protect’ the light from leaking outside of the optic fibre but in the case of sidelight fibres, the coat partially lets through the light in order to achieve the sidelight effect.

We offer retail and wholesale sale of the optic fibres. You can choose to buy only a few metres or whole reels of optic fibres.

Usage

Applications

Sidelight optic fibres are mainly applied to light the edges of:

  • buildings
  • balconies
  • entrance gates
  • stairs
  • swimming pools
  • dark corridors (cinemas, clubs)
Types

Types of sidelight optic fibres

We offer practically every type of sidelight optic fibres available on the lighting market. Sidelight optic fibres are sold in rolls which can be cut to the required length. In the tables can be found the parameters of optic fibres. Moreover,  the optic fibre requires light sources descriptions of which you will find here.

SOF version – without the additional PCV protective coat

PSOF version – with additional PCV protective coat

Table 2. Sidelight optic fibres with multifibre core.

The core consists of twisted optic fibres of smaller diameter surrounded by an additional coat.

Components

The kit includes

  • required length ofsidelight optic fibre
  • light sources– appropriate diode or large light generator
  • LED transformer, unless the power source is hidden in the light generator. This depends on the size of the transformer
  • adapter– an element connecting the light source to the optic fibre. An adapter is required only in small kits for where only one small diode is used. Light generators have a special reduction unit which enable solid fixing of the optic fibre or the whole bunch of optic fibres in the light source.

We offer a variety of light sources suitable for sidelight and endlight optic fibre. Each light source has different parameters and properties.

Accessories

Accessories

1. Hot knife for cutting optic fibre enables easy and effortless cutting

2. Does not leave jagged edges.

3. After careful cutting there is no need of polishing the head of the optic fibre .
